Free 1:1 support for LGBT asylum seekers and refugees in Scotland to talk through issues around claiming asylum, refugee status, being LGBT, and where to find support in the community.
What will we talk about?
We can talk about a range of issues including:
- claiming asylum (preparing for interviews, gathering good evidence, letters of support)
- health and wellbeing (dealing with stress and anxiety, sleeplessness, suicidal thoughts, trauma, confidence building, self-care)
- sense of purpose (volunteering, studying, leisure activities, applying for jobs)
- integration into the local community (language support if English is not your first language, LGBT community groups and activities)
- food and digital support (phones and data)
- signposting to other services and organisations in the community
How can you get support?
-
Meeting
We can meet face to face in Glasgow. If helpful, you are welcome to bring a support person (interpreter, friend, family, etc…) at those meetings with you (at this moment, we can’t offer face to face meeting due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic)
-
Phone
If more convenient, we can arrange to talk over the phone at a set date and time.
-
Email
In addition, we can communicate together through email.
