Forget Us Not: LGBT+ people and Dementia Community Discussion
In late November 2018, LGBT Health and Wellbeing facilitated a community discussion focused on exploring the needs and rights of LGBTQ+ people affected by dementia. With funding from the Life Changes Trust, we have established a new project which aims to add to growing learning and practice to ensure that the needs of LGBTQ+ people affected by dementia are holistically met.
This event was a partnership between the LGBT Dementia Project and Glasgow Community Programme which aimed to increase our community’s knowledge of dementia and generatediscussion about how we can better meet the needs of those affected. Partners from Alzheimer’s Scotland and TIDE (Together in Dementia Everyday) provided short informal inputs on their experience working in dementia services and supporting LGBTQ people. They then participated in our question and answer panel and open discussion.
